Where had no-doc loans gone?

But when so many people defaulted on their loans, the investments failed – and resulted in the 2008 mortgage meltdown.


The guidelines for approving loans tightened after that, and no-doc loans disappeared. But over the years, no-doc loans have made a comeback and are available for people who can not apply for a conventional loan.

How do no-doc loans work?

There are different types of document loans: no-doc loans, low-doc loans, NINA loans, stated income loans, no ratio loans, bank statement loans. Many borrowers, despite having a healthy credit score or income, don’t want to provide documentation for tax or personal reasons.
